TREATING TRAUMA IN CHILDREN:
NEW APPROACHES USING PLAY AND EXPRESSIVE MEDIUMS
Susan Hansen, LCSWR, RPT-S
Susan Hansen received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University with a specialization in child and family services. She is employed as the Program Supervisor for Children's Services at the Ulster County Mental Health Department and has worked within the Social Service and Mental Health fields for the past eighteen years. She has extensive clinical experience in the area Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in children and provides direct supervision for all clinic-based treatment services for children and adolescents in Ulster County who have experienced severe trauma and abuse.
Susan oversees all child and family clinic programs including the NEXIS Program (Neighborhoods Evolving by Connectng Individuals with Systems.) This program is a structured family and community-based intervention that works to improve child and adolescent behaviors by supporting environmental changes through the use of the Trauma Systems Therapy Model. She has co-authored several publications about the NEXIS program.
In addition, Susan is the co-creator of the Expressive Arts Group Program for latency aged children with trauma histories and the creator of the Kids together Group Therapy Program. Additional publications outline the frameowrk for these programs as well as preliminary data supporting effectiveness. Susan is a former board member for the NY Chapter of the Association for Play Therapy and is a workship presenter for the Play Therapy Institute at Mout St. Mary college in Newburgh, New York. She is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor.

The registration fee is $40.00. Registration after March 5th, is $50. For online registration only, the additional $10 will be collected at conference sign-in. Space permitting, registration on the day of the conference is $60.
On the day of the workshop, sign-in is at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. CEU's will be given for attendance and certificates will be distributed at the end of the workshop. Scholarships are available for parents of emotionally disturbed children.
